Arctic Odyssey Camp Briefing

Dear parents,

Thank you for registering your child for the Arctic Odyssey 2D1N Camp. In order for your child to have the best possible experience. Please take the time to read this pre-event brief together with a list of items that your child will need to prepare.

The following are FAQ’s for the program .

1. What is the reporting time for the camp?

The reporting time for the camp is at 9 AM at Rosyth Primary School. The assembly area will be in the front of the General Office . McDonald Tables. The participants are to report in their School PE attire for the camp.

Participants will arrive back in school and be dismissed by 4.30pm 2 June. 

2. Where will my child be showering at?

The shower facilities we will be using during this program is at the Waterworks, Science Centre. Please pack a  simple carry bag for showering purposes including toiletries.

3. Where will my child be consuming their meals?

The lunch meals will be consumed at the Coffee Bee at Science Center. The evening dinner will be an outdoor cookout in the Lakeside Field. Please remind your child to inform our instructors of any allergies they may have. 

4. Where will my child be sleeping in the evening.

The participants will be sleeping at the air-conditioned Room at Snow city after their activities are over for the evening.  Tents will be used to split between genders. There are toilet facilities next to the function room . 

5. Luggage & Winter Wear.

The program is designed as an explorers journey . If your child has a camping back pack please use this as it enables the child to move from one location to another easily . Please also pack a small fold able  shower bag / wet cloths bag for the night shower.  Please try to avoid using trolley travel suitcases unless there is no option . As the objective is for your child learn how to be self reliant please do not over pack to an extent that the child is not able to move on his own. 

6. Winter Wear 

If your child has his own winter jacket and water proof trousers please pack it. They can also double up as pillows in the evening. If your child does not have winter wear , they can use the winter wear provided by Snow City.  However for hygiene please pack a set of long sleeve T-Shirts and thick trousers (eg Jeans) for the snow experience. Economical gloves and head bands can be purchased from outlets like Daiso and will suffice.  There will be one session of snow play per day each for up to 1.5 hours. 

7. Checklist 

Please provide your child a copy of his inventory checklist in a zip lock bag so that they can ensure that they can check their items before leaving camp. 

8. Sleeping Arrangements 

The participants will be sleeping at the air-conditioned Room at Snow city after their activities are over for the evening.  Tents will be used to split between genders. There are toilet facilities next to the function room . 

9.Event Updates 

To keep parents updated on the progress of the program . We will be uploading pictures and videos of your child in action at the Arctic Odyssey event page on Camp High Achievers Facebook .
