Just finished your ‘A’ level examinations and are looking for a job? Or are you a full-time job holder looking to earn some spare cash in your free time? Do you also love being outdoors and interacting with youth? If your answer is, ‘yes’, look no further as the job of an outdoor instructor fulfils all of the above criteria perfectly!
You may be wondering, “What exactly does an outdoor instructor even do?” Well, outdoor instructors are passionate individuals that make a difference to others’ lives by helping them grow and develop their personal skills. They facilitate camps that have really diverse objectives – ranging from building team spirit and fostering effective relationship management between individuals to inculcating leadership skills in participants.
Personally, being able to inspire and see the positive changes I have inspired in others is definitely a highly emotionally rewarding experience for me. Most importantly, by learning how to inspire others towards achieving a common goal, you will also develop your own leadership skills too which will certainly come in useful in school and in your (future) job.
In the process of facilitating and planning camps, instructors would also get to interact and forge strong bonds with the participants who hail from all walks of life. You may be with Chinese children coming for a culture immersion program for one camp, and for another, you may be mingling with youths from local tertiary institutions. Although it may sound extremely daunting now, it will undoubtedly get better with time as you bolster your communication skills through facilitating more camps. Likewise, instructors can look forward to learning how to better run events as their organisational skills will be put to the test when performing logistical and administrative duties.
Being an outdoor instructor is definitely one of the best freelance jobs around as it offers competitive remuneration for your efforts. For instance, for a 7D6N camp, you can expect to be rewarded handsomely with around $500! (Although it varies accordingly to job nature) You may also get the chance to travel overseas should there be any overseas-based activities; and best of all, such trips will be fully sponsored. It is definitely a great opportunity if you are hoping to take a temporary breather from the busy Singapore city vibes to appreciate the more laidback atmosphere overseas.
Interested, but worried that you may not possess the necessary skills to be an instructor? Fret not as there will be a comprehensive two-day training program conducted by our experienced full-time outdoor instructors for all prospective instructors. You just need to come with the right attitude as you will be learning from people with a lot of experience. This is definitely a wonderful opportunity should you be seeking self-development and hoping to serve as an engine for change in the youth of today.
You can direct any queries you have and/or sign up as an instructor today by contacting this e-mail or number (67758077). We look forward to working with you soon!
